  • Turpin named Northeast Distinguished Alumni

    by jamesc  10/12/2015 9:01:07 AM --  SCOTTSBLUFF – A recognizable name that is formerly associated with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has been recognized by the Nebraska Community College Association (NCCA). Richard “Dick” Turpin was honored for outstanding career achievement recently with the NCCA’s Northeast Community College Area Distinguished Alumni Award during the organization’s annual meeting, held at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff. The award is presented annually to one alumnus from five of the state’s community college areas.

  • Hawks finish fifth at Nebraska Intercollegiate

    by jamesc  10/12/2015 8:48:23 AM --  NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College men’s golf team finished fifth following the two-day Nebraska Intercollegiate Tournament held Friday and Saturday here. Midland University won the team event with a two-day total (+10) 586 - 17 strokes better than Bellevue University. The Hawks shot a two-day total 624.

  • Severson named top community college administrator

    by jamesc  10/9/2015 11:01:54 AM --  SCOTTSBLUFF – The vice president of Student Services at Northeast Community College has been recognized as the top administrator among Nebraska’s community college. Dr. Karen Severson was presented with the 2015 Nebraska Community College Association (NCCA) Administrator’s Award during the NCCA’s annual meeting Monday in Scottsbluff. The award is presented annually to one administrator from five of the state’s community college areas.

  • Northeast dedicates new Applied Technology building

    by jamesc  10/9/2015 10:17:52 AM --  NORFOLK – Nearly two years to the day after ground was broken, officials of Northeast Community College dedicated the institution’s newest educational facility. Students actually began classes in the $9.1 million Applied Technology building on the Norfolk campus in August, but the College Board of Governors, administrators, faculty, staff and guests christened the 67,000 square foot structure during a dedication ceremony and open house Thursday afternoon.

  • Northeast receives scholarships funds from Wells Fargo/NPPD

    by jamesc  10/9/2015 10:15:21 AM --  NORFOLK – A check for $15,600 has been presented to Northeast Community College to be used for scholarships.Dr. Michael Chipps, Northeast president, and Gene Willers, Northeast board of governors chairperson, accepted the check from Cathy Kathol, Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) retail programs coordinator, and Kurt Dostal, business relationship manager for Wells Fargo Bank, at the regular monthly meeting of the Northeast Board of Governors here Thursday.

  • Hawks fall to Iowa Central & Central

    by jamesc  10/9/2015 9:51:55 AM --  NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College volleyball team won the first set in its match here Wednesday night against Iowa Central Community College, but dropped three straight sets to fall to the Tritons, 15-25, 25-18, 25-19 and 25-20 as part of a triangular. In the second match, Central defeated the Hawks 25-19, 17-25, 25-11 and 25-18.

  • Award winning film to be screened at Northeast

    by jamesc  9/29/2015 11:02:07 AM --  NORFOLK – Northeast Community College will observe Hispanic Heritage Month in October with the screening of a special, award winning film. “Homebound” will be shown on Wednesday, October 14, at 2 p.m. in the Cox Activities Center Theatre on the Norfolk campus. A question and answer session with Fanny Véliz, actor, writer, director and producer of the film, will be held following the screening.
