  • Northeast prepares to move into its new extended campus

    by jamesc  7/30/2015 3:29:55 PM --  O’NEILL – With construction coming to a close and classes beginning in less than a month, faculty and staff at Northeast Community College are beginning the process of moving into a new extended campus facility in O’Neill. Classes will begin in the College’s new operation at 505 East Highway 20 on Monday, August 24. They were previously held in a former elementary school building the College has used for a number of years at 409 East Adams Street.

  • Scholarship funds available to qualified former students

The funds are available to students who “stopped out” of college for a period of time or transferred to another college or university.

  • Northeast hosts Personal Finance Institute

The three-day training allowed them the opportunity to learn more about personal finance content, innovative and creative teaching methods and resources, as well as earn financial education industry certification.

Chipps, Ph.D., President of Northeast Community College I have had the privilege and honor of serving at three of the six community colleges in Nebraska for well over three decades. I was born and raised in Central Nebraska and enjoyed my first community college experience at Central Community College in Hastings and Grand Island followed by my work at Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte and McCook. And now, more than three years later, I am pleased to be serving as a part of the team at Northeast Community College.

    by jamesc  7/15/2015 10:32:31 AM --  CHICAGO - More than 1,600 of America’s best and brightest college students traveled to the Windy City to Step Up to the Challenge as they showcased their talents as future business leaders and vied for the opportunity to win more than $81,000 in cash awards. This included members of the Northeast Community College Phi Beta Lambda chapter.

  • Top 20 finish for Northeast student at Skills USA competition

    by sarahp  7/10/2015 5:11:45 PM --  LOUISVILLE, KY – A student who graduated from the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) program at Northeast Community College this spring put his skills to the test in a national competition recently. Clayton Craft, of Hadar, was one of over 6,100 students from 52 states and U.S. territories to compete in the 50th National Leadership and Skills Conference, sponsored by SkillsUSA, in Louisville, KY. Two hundred and twenty five students and advisors from Nebraska attended the event. Students competed in 99 occupational and leadership skill areas. SkillsUSA programs assist in establishing industry standards for job skill training in the classroom.

  • Northeast to partner with Nucor Detailing Center for open house career fair

    by sarahp  7/10/2015 5:08:33 PM --  The Center for Enterprise (CFE) at Northeast Community College and the Nucor Detailing Center (NDC) had such great success with a Career Fair Open House earlier this year that a similar event is planned for later this month. “Our previous career events have provided over 50 new teammates with the training and skills necessary to successfully be hired as a drafter/modeler,” said Jason Ternus, lead at NDC. “Our growing need for drafters/modelers has created this unique opportunity for anyone interested in a career with Nucor.”

It is often the perception that these types of facilities bring stable and relatively high paying jobs with them. While that is generally a true statement, it comes at a time when a study shows that Americans are reluctant to choose a career in manufacturing.

  • Northeast Student-Athletes Earn All Academic Honors

The twenty-two student-athletes have been named to the Spring 2015 National Junior College Athletic Association Region XI Academic All-Region Teams. Northeast is a member of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.
