DSST

The DSST Subject Standardized Tests is a nationally recognized testing program that gives you the opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom. The program is administered year-round by colleges and universities throughout the United States. DSST offers over 38 test titles in the areas of Social Science, Business, Mathematics, Applied Technology, Humanities, and Physical Science.

Northeast offers DSST testing by appointment. The cost of the test is $80.00 and a nonrefundable administration fee of $20.00 Northeast Community College. Total cost of exam is $100.

Retest policy: The student must wait 90 days from his/her last test date to retest on the same DDST test title(s).

Registration Information

  • The student selects DSST exam. If the student is unsure of which DSST test is required for the students program of student, please contact the student’s academic advisor or the registrar.
  • To schedule a DDST testing appointment, please contact the Northeast Community College Testing Center, by telephone, 402-844-7281 or email, testing@northeast.edu, or visit the Northeast Community Testing Center located in the College Welcome Center, Room 1252.
  • The $80.00 testing fee is paid directly to DSST by credit or debit card on the day of the test. The student must pay a non-refundable administration fee of $20.00 to Northeast Community College.
  • If the student is an “Authorized Military” candidate, the student is not required to submit the DDST $80.00 testing fee.

DSST

  • DSST exam credit will be entered on a student’s Northeast Community College transcript only if the student is currently enrolled or has graduated from Northeast Community College.
  • Every institution sets its own policies regarding DSST. If the student thinks s/he might transfer to another institution, the student should know the policy of both institutions before taking the DSST exam.
  • The student can take two exams on any given exam date.
  • The student must wait three (3) months (90 calendar days) to retake a failed DSST exam
  • DSST minimum score varies according to the exam –Minimum scores range from 44 to 48 on the DSST or 400 on the revised DSST.
  • DSST testing is computer-based. Computer-based results can be reviewed online at http://ibt.prometric.com/dsst and the student can print DSST Candidate Score Report.
  • A current government-issued photo ID with signature is required for all DSST testing.
  • A commercially-produced handheld, battery or solar-operated, silent, nonprogrammable, and do not have either a full alphabetic keyboard or graphical display.
  • Internet-based DSST exams offer an embedded calculator that the student can use.

 

The Day of the Exam

Civilian Testers
  • All testers must present a current and valid picture ID
    • Current Driver’s license
    • Current student ID
    • State approved ID
    • Current state of federal ID card
    • Current passport of passport card
    • Tribal ID card
    • Naturalization card
"Authorized Military Testers"
  • Service Members:
    • A current Armed Forces of the United States Common Access Card, and one other state or government picture ID with signature (driver’s license or valid passport)

  • Civil Service Personnel:
    • A current Armed Forces of the United States Common Access Card, and one other state or government picture ID with signature (state driver’s license or valid passport)
    • Federal Civil Service ID containing a picture and a signature; OR
    • Federal Civil Service ID without a picture and signature and one other state or government picture ID with signature (driver’s license or valid passport)

  • Department of Acquisition Personnel
    • A current Armed Forces of the United States Common Access Card, and one other state or government picture ID with signature (state driver’s license or valid passport)

  • Eligible Spouses
    • A current United States Uniformed Services ID Card.

Testing Center Guidelines:

  • Schedule an appointment for the exam. (Space is limited)
  • Tester Must:
    Complete a sign-in sheet.
    Present a current photo ID
  • All personal items will be securely stored
    Cell phones, pagers, any other electronic devices, hats, caps, scarves, coats, watches, and jewelry more than ¼ inch
  • May not leave the Testing Center without permission of the Testing Staff once testing has begun.
  • Food (including gum) and drink are not permitted in the Testing Center and/or testing rooms unless otherwise permitted.
  • Students may not access their personal belongings without permission once testing has begun.
  • If the student takes break during testing, the students may not access their cell phone or any other electronic devices.
  • No children allowed in the Testing Center.
  • No visitors are allowed in the Testing Center.
