Learning Skills for Success
Learning Skills for Success is a class designed to help students acquire skills and attitudes that promote success in the classroom and in life.
Students will learn how to:
- More effectively learn from lectures and textbooks
- Manage time
- Prepare for and take tests effectively
- Access college resources
- Establish and work toward goals
- Manage conflict
Learning Skills for Success is a two-credit hour course that is offered at different times of the day. Students may add Learning Skills for Success to their schedule by stopping at the Student Services Office or by visiting with their faculty advisors.
Transitional English and Prescriptive or Individualized Math
These classes are designed to help students improve their English, writing, reading, math and study skills. Students are instructed on an individualized basis within small class groups.
The Transitional English and Prescriptive Math classes also prepare students for other courses and help students achieve success in college or on the job.
To enroll in any Transitional English, Prescriptive Math or Individualized Math class, students should visit with their faculty advisor or class instructor or stop by the Student Services Office.
Transitional English
Classes are limited to ten students per hour, and students attend two hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Classes are also offered during the summer. Successful completion of Transitional English Skills classes meets the reading and writing mandated requirements.
Prescriptive Math
Prescriptive Math helps students develop or improve math skills. Each student attends class for two hours a week. Classes are offered Monday through Friday and two evenings a week in the Science Building during the fall and spring semesters. Classes are also offered during the summer.
Individualized Math
Individualized Math provides academic support to students while enrolled in any other of Northeast’s mathematics courses.
