NORFOLK – In recent years, the number of higher education institutions adopting policies which prohibit smoking or tobacco use anywhere on their property has grown dramatically. Effective August 1, 2014, Northeast Community College will modify is smoke-free policy to a tobacco-free policy.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY - Teaching in an elementary school classroom is a natural calling for many people. Abbie Stolze found her calling to be a teacher and she hasn’t looked back. Stolze is in her senior year with Wayne State College. She has completed all of her classwork at the College Center in South Sioux City. The Homer native, now living in South Sioux City, found the College Center fit her schedule and it had the classes she needed.

NORFOLK – New data confirms that Northeast Community College has a major economic impact on the 20 counties in its service area.
A study by Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI) for the College shows that Northeast Community College adds $232.5 million annually to its 20-county service area’s economy. The study took into account $200 million in student productivity, plus the combined effects of spending each year by the College which totals $31.9 million, and by students who relocate to Northeast’s service area which has a $561,400 impact. The total effect for Fiscal Year 2012-13 amounted to approximately 3.8% of the Northeast service area’s total Gross Regional Product.

NORFOLK - Several students at Northeast Community College have qualified for membership in Phi Theta Kappa, (PTK), Tau Chi Chapter.
Since the installation of Northeast’s Tau Chi chapter in 1996, some 2,779 students have been inducted into the international academic honor society for two-year colleges. For more than 80 years, membership in Phi Theta Kappa has signified a singular honor and a willingness to embrace the Society’s shared commitment to academic excellence. To be eligible for PTK, students must have earned at least 12 credit hours and achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or above out of a 4.0 system.
