The Nebraska Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges

Article I – Name

The name of the organization is the Nebraska Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges.

Article II - Objectives

The Nebraska Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges is a nonprofit, educational association. The objectives of the association are the following:

A.  encourage the development of effective mathematics programs

B.  afford a state forum for the interchange of ideas

C.  develop and/or improve the mathematics education and mathematics related experiences of students in two-year colleges

D.  promote the professional welfare and development of its members

Article III – Membership

Any person interested in two-year college mathematics education is eligible for membership

Article IV – Dues

Dues will be paid by all members at the rate set by the Executive Board and approved by the members at the annual business meeting.

Article V – Officers

The officers of the Association to be elected at the Annual Meeting will include the President, President-elect, Secretary, and Treasurer to serve for a term of two years. A Conference Chair, with a one-year term, is also an officer.

Article VI – Executive Board

The Executive Board shall be the officers of the Association. It is the governing body of the Association responsible for conducting the affairs and business of the Association, subject to the authority of the membership.

Article VII - Meetings

There is an Annual Meeting of the Association. The date of the meeting is set by the Executive Board. The Annual Meeting must be announced at least two months in advance.

Article VIII – Committees

Committees as needed are appointed by the President, subject to the approval of the Executive Board, to carry out the purposes of the Association. Appointed committees are dissolved by the Executive Board.

Article IX – Elections

Officers will be nominated and elected by a simple majority of the members of the Association in attendance at the Annual Meeting.  New officers will take office immediately following the Annual Meeting.

Article X – Parliamentary Procedure

The rules contained in Roberts’s Rules of Order, Revised, govern in all cases except when they are inconsistent with the constitution.

Article XI – Constitutional Revisions

Revisions to the constitution and/or amendments to the constitution may be approved by a simple majority of the members present and voting at the Annual Meeting.

Article XII – Dissolution

If, at any time the Association shall cease to carry out the purpose as herein stated, all assets and property held by the Association, whether in trust or otherwise, shall, after payment of all liabilities, be paid over to the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges to be used exclusively for any project, or educational purpose, as determined by the Executive Board of that organization.
