NORFOLK – The Spring Job Fair at Northeast Community College in Norfolk will be the largest ever. Representatives from 90 companies, agencies and organizations will take part in the event on Wednesday, March 19, from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Cox Activities Center gymnasium.

NORFOLK – Five Northeast Community College agriculture students attended the National Farmers Union (NFU) College Conference on Cooperatives recently. They were among more than 135 students from the United States and Puerto Rico to attend the conference in Minneapolis.
The students learned how cooperative businesses are adapting to changing environments in order to succeed. They also heard from cooperative experts from across the nation on why member-owned businesses are thriving in industries ranging from senior housing to healthcare.

NORFOLK - The walking dead will be on the run next month at Northeast Community College in Norfolk. The Northeast Student Government Association (SGA) will host a Zombie 5k Fun-Run/Walk on Saturday, April 26th, at 10 a.m. on the Northeast campus. It will start and finish at Paradise Courtyard behind the College Welcome Center.

NORFOLK – All eleven members of the Northeast Community College volleyball team have earned post season academic honors. The players have been named to the Fall 2013 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Academic All-Region Teams. Northeast is a member of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

NORFOLK – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports an “isolated incident” occurred Monday afternoon on the Northeast Community College campus in Norfolk. Three students in the parking lot of the Northeast Utility Line building were approached by an armed man in a car as the students were leaving their vehicle. No one was hurt. The man left the parking lot and local law enforcement was contacted. The matter remains under investigation.

NORFOLK – New data confirms that Northeast Community College has a major economic impact on the 20 counties in its service area.
A study by Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI) for the College shows that Northeast Community College adds $232.5 million annually to its 20-county service area’s economy. The study took into account $200 million in student productivity, plus the combined effects of spending each year by the College which totals $31.9 million, and by students who relocate to Northeast’s service area which has a $561,400 impact. The total effect for Fiscal Year 2012-13 amounted to approximately 3.8% of the Northeast service area’s total Gross Regional Product.

NORFOLK - Several students at Northeast Community College have qualified for membership in Phi Theta Kappa, (PTK), Tau Chi Chapter.
Since the installation of Northeast’s Tau Chi chapter in 1996, some 2,779 students have been inducted into the international academic honor society for two-year colleges. For more than 80 years, membership in Phi Theta Kappa has signified a singular honor and a willingness to embrace the Society’s shared commitment to academic excellence. To be eligible for PTK, students must have earned at least 12 credit hours and achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or above out of a 4.0 system.
