The Hawks fell to John Cook Community College, 61-52, here in the Iowa Western Community College Classic. It was the first loss of the season for Northeast.

They are Allie Millard, of Valentine, Octavia McGraw, of Omaha, and Hannah Riley, of Richmond, GA. "I am really excited about these three girls. They are good players of high character and they will be great additions to our program,” said Matt Svehla, Hawks head coach.

Matt Svehla, Hawks coach, said the players are Cameron Eddie of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge High School, Brooke Bauer of St. Mary’s High School in O’Neill, and Jayla Mayes-Jackson, of Eden Prairie High School, in Eden Prairie, MN.

  • Northeast Student-Athletes Recognized for Academic Success

But the sport isn't the only focus of the point guard on the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team. “Coming here (Northeast) was the best decision I ever made,” Washington said. “Being a student and an athlete is not easy, but my coaches have helped me develop into the young man that I am today. I came here as a boy, but I will leave here as a young man.”
