  • Golden Leaf Awards Presented to Northeast Students

    by jamesc  4/17/2014 5:25:31 PM --  NORFOLK - Northeast Community College broadcasting, journalism and mass media students were honored for their work at the annual Nebraska Collegiate Media Association (NCMA) Conference, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Hastings College in Hastings. NCMA sponsors the Golden Leaf Awards every spring for excellence in print, digital, radio and TV media. Northeast students took top honors in several categories including Best TV Newscast for the Hawk-TV staff and Best Promotional Content, won by the staff of the Northeast college online newspaper, The Viewpoint.

  • Northeast Livestock Judging Team Earns Honors

    by jamesc  4/17/2014 5:23:21 PM --  MARYVILLE, MO – Northeast Community College students finished in fourth place in sweepstakes for two-year colleges at the 2014 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Conference held at Northwest Missouri State University here. Northeast was one of 20 community colleges and 19 university teams to compete in the April 10-12 conference.

  • Northeast Student-Athletes Recognized for Academic Success

But the sport isn't the only focus of the point guard on the Northeast Community College men’s basketball team. “Coming here (Northeast) was the best decision I ever made,” Washington said. “Being a student and an athlete is not easy, but my coaches have helped me develop into the young man that I am today. I came here as a boy, but I will leave here as a young man.”

  • Northeast Scholarship Recipients, Sponsors Are Recognized

The scholarship recipients and their sponsors were honored during the annual Scholarship Luncheon, which recognizes the sponsors for helping Northeast students succeed with their education.

  • Cox, McIntosh Honored for Civic Contributions

Dr. Robert Cox, former president, and J. Paul McIntosh, former member of the Board of Governors, were recognized at this week’s annual banquet of the Norfolk Area Chamber of Commerce. Both men currently serve on the Northeast Community College Foundation Board.

  • Northeast Speech Team Earns First Place Honors at Nationals

  • Northeast Students Take Part in PTK Ceremony

Students were installed into Northeast’s Phi Theta Kappa, (PTK), Tau Chi chapter during the spring 2014 induction ceremony held in the Lifelong Learning Center.

  • Every Member of Northeast Volleyball Team Earns Academic Honors

The players have been named to the Fall 2013 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI Academic All-Region Teams. Northeast is a member of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference.

  • Northeast Students Qualify for PTK Honor Society

    by jamesc  2/28/2014 10:04:57 AM --  NORFOLK - Several students at Northeast Community College have qualified for membership in Phi Theta Kappa, (PTK), Tau Chi Chapter. Since the installation of Northeast’s Tau Chi chapter in 1996, some 2,779 students have been inducted into the international academic honor society for two-year colleges. For more than 80 years, membership in Phi Theta Kappa has signified a singular honor and a willingness to embrace the Society’s shared commitment to academic excellence. To be eligible for PTK, students must have earned at least 12 credit hours and achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or above out of a 4.0 system.

  • Northeast Names IT Building After Echtenkamp

    by jamesc  2/18/2014 4:47:16 PM --  NORFOLK – Ken Echtenkamp’s name is synonymous with education in Northeast Nebraska. In addition to being a teacher, an administrator, and superintendent of two school districts, the West Point man served as business manager of one of the predecessor institutions to Northeast Community College and was a longtime member of the College’s board of governors. On Tuesday, Northeast named its new information technology (IT) building after Echtenkamp, whose tenure with the College spanned over 35-years. The Northeast Board of Governors approved the $1.1 renovation of the former Broadcasting/Electronics building into its new IT showcase facility in 2012.

  • Northeast Holds Ceremony for Vet Tech Students

    by jamesc  1/29/2014 8:14:03 AM --  NORFOLK – A special ceremony was held recently in Norfolk for the students enrolled in the Northeast Community College veterinary technology program. Members of the Class of 2014 received the veterinary technician’s pin. Members of the Class of 2015 were awarded a monogrammed white coat to mark their formal acceptance.

  • 2014 US Bank Awards Winners at Northeast

    by jamesc  1/15/2014 3:11:56 PM --  NORFOLK - Four Northeast Community College faculty and staff members were honored recently with awards from US Bank at the Spring In-Service. The US Bank Awards, which include an engraved clock and a cash award, annually honor employees who have been nominated for their outstanding contributions to the college. The bank, or its predecessor institutions, has presented these awards since 1993.

  • Frenzen, Hoag honored at Northeast AG-ceptional Women’s Conference
