  • New Faces Join Northeast's Women's Basketball Team

    by jamesc  10/30/2014 8:19:11 AM --  NORFOLK – Several new faces join this year’s women’s basketball team at Northeast Community College – a team that is coming off a strong season last year. Hawks Coach Matt Svehla welcomes nine freshmen this season along with four returning sophomores.

  • Hawks Volleyball Team Finishes Regular Season

    by jamesc  10/30/2014 8:11:50 AM --  DES MOINES, IA – The Northeast Community College volleyball team fell to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) here Wednesday in the Hawks’ regular season match of the season. The scores were 25-17, 25-22, 25-23. DMACC is ranked #10 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Division II poll.

  • Northeast Archer Wins National Match

    by jamesc  10/24/2014 3:49:26 PM --  COLOMBIA, MO – A member of the Northeast Community College archery team has earned national honors. Victoria Novak, Holdrege, finished with the highest score in the Women’s Basic Bow class at the 3-D United States Intercollegiate Archery Championships in Columbia, MO. She won a plaque and a $500 scholarship for finishing first.

  • Northeast Music Department Plans Pops Concert

    by jamesc  10/24/2014 3:44:00 PM --  NORFOLK – The music department at Northeast Community College encourages you to experience music in November as the 2014 concert series continues with a Pops Concert. The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Sunday, November 2, at 2 p.m. in the Cox Activities Center Theatre. The Northeast show choir, Singers Express, and the jazz band, the Northeast Jazz Machine, will perform. The Northeast Area Jazz Ensemble will also take the stage.

  • Applied Technology Students Assist on Habitat House

    by jamesc  10/24/2014 3:38:26 PM --  NORFOLK – Students in several applied technology division programs at Northeast Community College continue to work on public service projects in the Norfolk area. Most recently, they assisted with construction of the latest Norfolk Area Habitat for Humanity house near 2nd Street and Park Avenue. Northeast students have worked on several Habitat homes in the city over the years.

  • Sober in October at Northeast

    by jamesc  10/23/2014 4:50:28 PM --  Northeast Community College students Taryn Luedtke, Creston, (left) and Kiara Lopez, Schuyler, watch fellow student Nate Fowler, Cherokee, IA, fill a shot glass with water during the College’s 7th Annual Sober in October event. The purpose of the challenge was to have students estimate what one serving of alcohol looks like in a red cup. Water represented vodka, apple juice was used for beer and grape juice represented wine. Nearly 200 students took part in Sober in October at the Chuck M. Pohlman Agriculture Complex on Wednesday.

  • Northeast Entrepreneurial Club Attends Chicago Conference

  • Northeast Goes Danish

    by jamesc  10/23/2014 3:19:00 PM --  Line Fenger shares a laugh with Ellen Norskov, of Albion, during a Danish Heritage Dinner at the City Café in Newman Grove recently. Fenger, an exchange student from Aarhus Business College in Aarhus, Denmark, has been in Nebraska during the month of October as part of exchange program with Northeast Community College.

  • Agriculture's Funnyman Coming to Northeast

    by jamesc  10/23/2014 3:14:10 PM --  NORFOLK – Agriculture’s humorous side will be featured next month at Northeast Community College in Norfolk. Damian Mason, considered agriculture’s professional funnyman, will speak at the College’s Chuck M. Pohlman Agriculture Complex, on Monday, November 10. A casual meal will be served at 6 p.m. followed by Mason’s program at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

  • Hawks Defeat Iowa Lakes in Four Sets

  • Northeast Hosts Inaugural Ag Career Fair

    by jamesc  10/17/2014 4:23:56 PM --  Courtesy The Viewpoint NORFOLK - Agriculture cooperatives hoping to get a jump on summer intern hiring set up booths Thursday in Northeast Community College’s Lifelong Learning Center for an Ag Career Fair. They spoke with interested Northeast students who ordinarily might not start to look for internships until spring. Dr. Burton Pflueger, Northeast agriculture instructor, who planned the event, said introducing students to potential employers this early in the year benefits everyone.

  • Northeast Speech Teams Ropes More Wins

  • Northeast Auto Body Students Travel to England

    by jamesc  10/17/2014 12:17:58 PM --  NORFOLK – Five members of the Northeast Community College auto body program and their instructor traveled to the United Kingdom - the second group from the College to travel there in the past year. Instructor Dave Beaudette and his students flew from Omaha to Manchester, England, in late October for a ten visit to nearby North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe, England.
