NORFOLK – 29 students out of 100 graduates were honored at Northeast Community College in Norfolk Monday during the 37th Annual Adult Education Recognition Night. The students were honored for completing the requirements to receive a Nebraska high school diploma through the GED ® (General Educational Development) tests administered by Northeast’s Adult Education (AE) Program.

Approximately 800 students took part in the 40th Commencement Ceremony at Northeast Community College on Saturday in the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus.

NORFOLK - A member of the Northeast Community College Board of Governors has resigned. Peg Niewohner’s resignation took effect April 17.
Niewohner, of Norfolk, was elected to the board to represent Madison County’s District 5 in November, 2010. Her term expires in December, 2014.

NORFOLK – A collaboration between Northeast Community College and the Nucor Detailing Center (NDC) has been recognized by the American Association of Community Colleges. Northeast was one of five finalists for the 2013 American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Awards of Excellence in the Outstanding College/Corporate Partnership category.

NORFOLK – The 40th Commencement of Northeast Community College will take place on Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m. in the Cox Activities Center on the Norfolk campus. The 10 a.m. start time is earlier than in previous years. As of Wednesday, May 1, some 807 students, including those earning double majors and 169 who completed their studies last December, were to be listed in the commencement program. Northeast President Dr. Michael Chipps will give the commencement address.

NORFOLK – The Board of Governors of Northeast Community College has approved a purchase agreement for a tract of land that will be the new home of the college’s extended campus in O’Neill.

NORFOLK - 99-percent of Northeast Community College’s 2012 graduates are employed or are continuing their education. That is among the highlights of the recently issued 2012 Northeast Community College Graduate Employment Report. 98-percent of Northeast’s 724 graduates from 2012 responded to a survey that is used to compile the statistics.

NORFOLK – Northeast Community College is hosting a group of students, faculty and staff from a college in northern England this week. The six students, an instructor and an administrator from North Lindsey College in Scunthorpe, England, arrived Wednesday to begin a ten-day exchange on the Norfolk campus.

NORFOLK – The Financial Aid office at Northeast Community College dispersed over $16 million dollars in financial aid during the 2011-12 academic year. Stacy Dieckman, Director of Financial Aid, said the figure was up 6.9 percent up from the previous year.
