  • Chipps Testifies Against Property Tax Legislation

    by jamesc  1/26/2015 5:51:08 PM --  LINCOLN – The president of Northeast Community College told Nebraska lawmakers Monday that a legislative bill designed to lower a property tax levy lid would be detrimental to the work of the state’s community colleges. “Lowering property taxes and correspondingly lowering the ability to fund Nebraska community colleges, as proposed in LB 144, would be devastating to one of the state's primary economic development systems, which I believe is just the opposite effect that our great state wishes to create,” said Dr. Michael Chipps, Northeast president.

  • Students Graduate in December from Northeast

    by jamesc  1/22/2015 1:24:52 PM --  NORFOLK – Two hundred-eleven students, including five earning double majors, completed their studies in December from Northeast Community College. The names of the students will be listed in the program in the College’s commencement ceremony in May.

  • Northeast Students Finish 1-2 at Truck Driving Championships

Juan Pizano, Sioux City, IA, took the first place overall prize, while Shawn Anderson, Wisner, placed second. Jeffrey Kappus of Metropolitan Community College (MCC) was third.

  • Northeast Signs MOU with Concordia University

The presidents of the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Tuesday on Concordia’s campus here to solidify financial and educational commitments of their new partnership, effective immediately.

  • Chipps Highlights Veterans' Services at Northeast

    by jamesc  11/7/2014 2:50:10 PM --  NORFOLK – Dr. Michael Chipps, president of Northeast Community College, has a filmed a video geared to military veteran students who attend the college. “I’m here to really celebrate with you veterans, as far as not only for your service, but to be able to attend Northeast Community College,” Chipps said in the opening. The video was shot by students in Brian Anderson’s broadcasting program in front of the College’s Welcome Center.

  • Scholarship Recipients Announced

  • Popular Baby Boomers Series Held at Northeast in So. Sioux City

    by jamesc  10/17/2014 4:26:58 PM --  SOUTH SIOUX CITY – One woman said she was “late for class” while another said “I’m really learning a lot.” They were among approximately 120 retirees who took part in Northeast Community College’s latest Baby Boomer and Beyond series at the College’s extended campus in South Sioux City. Attendees gained a better understanding of technology in their lives to beating stress during the upcoming holidays. This was the fourth program in the series sponsored by Northeast and Thrivent Financial – Siouxland South Chapter.

  • Northeast Adult Education Team Receives Certification

Nancy Schultz, director of adult education, and Emily Duncan, adult education coordinator, have both successfully completed an intensive training program and are each as a Certified Manager in Program Improvement (CMPI).
