  • Northeast to host popular Baby Boomers and Beyond series in South Sioux City

    by amandab  4/28/2016 10:30:49 AM --  SOUTH SIOUX CITY – Northeast Community College in South Sioux City will hold its popular and entertaining seminar series for retirees in May. Baby Boomers and Beyond will be held Thursday, May 12, from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m., at the Northeast Community College Extended Campus in the College Center, 1001 College Way, in South Sioux City. While pre-registration is required, the event is free to those who attend. A light lunch will be provided.

Cedric Biteghe Bi Ndong, Libreville, Gabon, Africa, Ada Buenrostro, Sioux City, IA, Brooke Gettman, Norfolk, and Ron Nichols, Norfolk, joined 25 other all-state team members from Nebraska’s five other community colleges in a ceremony at the Cornhusker Hotel.

  • Northeast to add precision agriculture program

However, with 93-percent of Nebraska’s land already being used in agriculture, the industry is studying how to feed a growing world in the coming decades using new technologies and conservation practices which will allow producers to grow more on less land with less resources. That rationale is the basis for a new agriculture program to be offered beginning this fall at Northeast Community College.

One-hundred-fifty-four students were installed into Northeast’s Phi Theta Kappa, (PTK), Tau Chi chapter during the spring 2016 induction ceremony held in the Lifelong Learning Center.

  • Fridays@Northeast offers seniors opportunity to earn college credit

Director of Early Entry Programs Makala Williams said Fridays @ Northeast offers high school seniors a chance to spend Fridays on campus as college students. The classes offered through the program introduce students to a variety of Career and Technical Education program areas, and classes lead directly into a program of study upon high school graduation.

  • 99% of Northeast graduates find employment or continue their education

Northeast’s new Graduate Employment Report confirms that ninety-nine percent of 2015 graduates either found jobs or continued their education.

  • Scherer appointed to the Board of Governors

    by jamesc  1/14/2016 5:52:20 PM --  NORFOLK – The chief financial officer of Smeal Fire Apparatus in Snyder is the newest member of the Northeast Community College Board of Governors. Jeff Scherer, Beemer, was sworn in at the board’s monthly meeting Thursday in Norfolk. He succeeds John W. Davies, Pilger, who resigned his At-Large seat in November. The position represents the College’s entire 20-county service area.
