Sophomore Jabbar Washington, from Michigan City, IN, has been named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Second Team All-Region. Khapri Alston, a sophomore from Chicago, and freshman Lyle Hexom, of Omaha, were named to the ICCAC Honorable Mention team.

Washington averaged 15.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game for Northeast. “Jabbar has worked very hard his two years at Northeast and it’s a great honor to be named to the Second Team All-Region, said Dan Anderson, Hawks coach. “This is a tough league and Jabbar is very deserving of this honor.

Alston averaged 16.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game while Hexom averaged 11.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game.

“Khapri has been a person that we have relied on all season. He always performed with great effort and toughness. He has been a good leader,” Anderson said. “We will miss Jabbar and Khapri, but they will always be a part of the Northeast basketball family,” he said.

“Lyle has put up good numbers all year. He is a big factor in the ball games. I’m extremely pleased  we get to have him again next season,”

Northeast finished the 2013-14 season with a 14-17 record.
