OTTUMWA, IA - Despite seven lead changes and two ties in the first half, Indian Hills Community College ran away from Northeast Community College in a men’s basketball contest here Saturday, 135-92. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 13-6 and 0-1 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play.
Northeast had a 20-19 advantage at one point in the first half, but never regained the lead. The Hawks trailed by 18 points at halftime. In the second half, Northeast cut the lead to 14 twice, but could never get any closer.
Jabbar Washington led the Hawks in scoring with 25 points. Elsewhere, Khapri Alston poured in 19 points and brought down 13 rebounds, Sheed Fairly had 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Lyle Hexom, finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Hawks travel to Council Bluffs, IA, on Wednesday to take on #10 Iowa Western Community College (16-2). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
