CRETE - The Northeast Community College golf team opened the fall season with a strong performance at the Doane College Men's Fall Invitational at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club here Thursday. The Hawks finished third in the ten team field a 314, edged out by one shot by Hastings College. Doane captured team honors with a 302. The Northeast B team took fifth place with a 330.
"This golf course was a great test for our guys and I am very excited that we had four players in the top ten out of 56 players on one of the hardest courses we will play this year," said Brad Bosh, head coach.
Freshman Michael Brockhaus was fourth with a 76 while Sophomore Michael Bergquist and Freshman Preston Peters tied for fifth with three other players after shooting 77. Sophomore Alex Dredge tied for ninth with a 78.
Elsewhere for Northeast, Conner Watson and Justin Mlnarik shot 82; Gage Garnas had an 83; Lucas Bradfield carded an 85; Stephen Grand Pre shot an 86; and Justin Bruntz finished with a 94.
The Hawks will be in action next on Monday, September 8, as its takes part in a dual with Central Community College at the Elks Country Club in Columbus.
