by jamesc  6/17/2014 11:45:15 AM --  SILVER SPRING, MD – A Northeast Community College graduate has earned a regional Emmy Award for his work with The United States (U.S.) Air Force Band. Master Sgt. Loren J. Zimmer is an audio engineer with The U.S. Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Eagle, NE, he began his Air Force career in 1998. Sergeant Zimmer attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk, where he earned his associate degree in audio recording technology in the same year.

According to The U.S. Air Force Band’s web site, Zimmer's technical knowledge has been an integral part of developing the Band's recording program into one of the most successful commercial studios in the world. “Sergeant Zimmer's recording expertise has been critical to ten national broadcasts and ten recording projects for over five million listeners nationwide. Maryland Public Television has proclaimed his audio work as "Emmy Award” winning material!" That came true this past Saturday.

Zimmer and four colleagues earned the regional Emmy Award in the Audio category for the program “America’s Veterans: A Musical Tribute,” that aired on Maryland Public Television in 2013. It was one of six awards Maryland Public Television earned during the National Capital/Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences ceremony in Silver Spring, MD.
