Three Sign to Play Volleyball at Northeast

by jamesc  3/12/2014 1:47:21 PM --  NORFOLK – Students from Palmer and Creston and a transfer student from Wayne State College will be playing volleyball this fall at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.

 

Coach Amanda Schultze signed Whitney Valasek recently. During her senior year at Palmer High School, Valasek recorded 117 kills with a 28.6 kill percentage; a .115 hitting percentage, and 32 ace blocks. She played 63 sets for the Tigers last season and registered 24 ace serves and 85 points served.

Valasek was named to the Goldenrod Conference 3rd Team - 2013; Prep-Volleyball Honorable Mention – 2013; All Heartland Honorable Mention – 2013; All State Academic Team – 2013; and Goldenrod Conference 2nd Team – 2012.

Taryn Luedtke, a senior at Lakeview High School in Columbus, will also play for the Hawks this fall. During this past year for the Vikings, Luedtke led the team with 50 aces. She was second in kills and attack efficiency and third in digs and serve/receive.

For her career at Lakeview, Luedtke is among the Top 20 in school history in all-time digs; Top 10 in points scored, matches played, games played, kills, attack efficiency, serve percentage, and serve attempts. She was also in the Top 5 all-time for attack attempts and attack percentage.

During her senior season, Luedtke was named to the Central Conference First-Team, All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention by the Omaha World-Herald, Lincoln Journal-Star and Nebraska Prep Volleyball. She was also a member of the All-State Academic Team. She is the sister of Sydney Luedtke, who played for Northeast this past season.

Schultze also recently signed Kelsie Myers, a transfer from Wayne State College. She is a graduate of Broken Bow High School.

Two other players have already signed to play volleyball at Northeast: Meagan Backer of Wayne, and Kiara Lopez, of Schuyler.
