Northeast Falls in Final Seconds to Southeastern

by jamesc  1/24/2014 9:23:18 AM --  WEST BURLINGTON, IA – An attempted three point shot with just over three seconds to go in the game fell short and Southeastern Community College went on to defeat Northeast Community College here on Wednesday, 84-81. The Hawks fall to 13-9 on the season.


Despite being down by as much as 21 points in the first half, Northeast crawled back in to the game and trailed at halftime, 45-34. Cutting the lead to one, 82-81, Southeastern made two free throws to push the lead to three and then on to the final score.

Four Hawks scored in double figures: Jabbar Washington with 25, Lyle Hexom with 16, Khapri Alston with 15, and Buay Tauch with 13. Alston led the team in rebounds with eight.

Northeast takes on Southeast Community College Saturday in Beatrice. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
