Cap, Gown and Ticket Distribution
See Dates and Deadlines for Cap, Gown and Ticket distribution dates and times.
A photo ID is required to pick-up your cap, gown and tickets. This can be your driver’s license or student ID. These items will only be released to the prospective graduate. They will not be released to friends or family even if they have the prospective graduate's ID.
Cap, gown and ticket distribution is for tentative graduates that have indicated they plan to attend the ceremony on their Graduation Application. Students with Accounts Receivable Services holds will not be able to pick up their cap, gown or tickets on distribution day. If you have questions, please contact the Northeast Accounts Receivable Services in the College Welcome Center.
Caps, Gowns and Tassels
Your tassel is in your gown bag.
Please try on your gown as soon as you get it home. If you have sizing or other issues with your gown, please refer to Dates and Deadlines for exchange deadlines. Exchanges from our small inventory will be made on a first come, first served basis. Different sizes will not be available graduation day. You will want to hang your gown on a hanger as soon as possible. This will allow the packing folds to fall out. If you need to press your gown, use a damp towel between a warm iron and the underside of the gown. Do not directly iron the gown. The heat will ruin the material.
All participants are required to wear academic caps and gowns at Commencement. Please do not decorate or wear flowers or jewelry on your gown. To maintain the formal look of the regalia, we suggest that men wear dark dress slacks and shoes. Women are encouraged to wear a dress that is no longer than the gown or dark dress slacks with dark shoes. Direct your questions about regalia to the registrar's office at (402) 844-7265.
Phi Theta Kappa members
Students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa may borrow a graduation stole for the ceremony. Graduation stoles may be picked up in Maclay 100B on the morning of graduation. They should be returned immediately after the ceremony in the same location to the Phi Theta Kappa advisors. If a student fails to return the stole, the student’s account will be billed through the Northeast Billing Office. If students wish to purchase a stole, they may do so at http://store.ptk.org/ from the “Recognitions” catalog. For further information, please contact Colleen Barnes at 402.844.7670 or email@example.com.
Due to limited space available, graduates will receive guest tickets. The exact number of tickets to be distributed will depend on the total number of attending graduates. Tickets will be distributed at cap, gown and ticket distribution to prospective graduates who indicated they plan to attend the ceremony on their Graduation Application. Tickets will only be released to the prospective graduate with a photo ID.
Seating in the gymnasium is by ticket only. Children 18 months or older require a ticket. Guests may also view the live ceremony in the Cox Activities Center Theater,
on Northeast's HawkTV, channel 20 through CableOne of Norfolk, or by the
KHWK's live streaming channel.
