Outside Scholarship Opportunities

Each of these scholarships requires a separate application form and deadlines may vary. Click on the link to each scholarship for deadlines and application information.

ACG Nebraska Chapter for freshmen and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a graduating high school student, or enrolled, or plan to enroll, in a construction related program at a technical institute
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen, or documented permanent resident of the U.S
  3. Must have a desire to pursue a heavy-highway-utilities construction career
  4. Must enroll as a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours)
  5. Must have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 out of 4.0 “or” demonstrate achievement of competency

AK-SAR-BEN for freshmen and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be able to demonstrate financial need by submitting a Federal Student Aid Report (SAR) along with the application form
  2. Must be accepted for admission or enrolled at an eligible community college
  3. Must be a United States citizen who is a resident of Nebraska or western Iowa
  4. Must enroll as a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours)
  5. Current high school students must attach a high school transcript

American Chemical Society for freshmen and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled in a chemical science program of study, which includes chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, and environmental science
  2. Must be African American, Hispanic, or Native American
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the US
  4. Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  5. Current high school students must attach a high school transcript
  6. Must be able to demonstrate financial need according to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

AWS Foundation for freshmen and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled in a welding related educational or training program
  2. Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D.

The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation for first-time freshmen

Qualifications:

  1. Be a resident of Nebraska
  2. Graduate from a Nebraska high school or earn a Nebraska GED
  3. Be a resident of the state of Nebraska
  4. Earn at least a 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA in high school (or 80 on a 100 point scale)
  5. Plan to attend any of the Nebraska public institutions
  6. Be a first-time freshman when entering college. Students obtaining dual enrollment credits in high school are still eligible
  7. Be in need of financial assistance in order to attend college. Students do not need to be Pell Grant eligible to qualify. Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) below $15,000 are encouraged to apply

Cenex (CHS Foundation)for freshmen and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be in an agricultural program
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Clark E. DeHaven for sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be planning a career in the food service industry and major in a food service related field of study
  2. Must be enrolled at an institution that is a member of the National Association of Colleges & University Food Services
  3. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program full time, in good standing, and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  4. Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen and must attend college in the U.S. or Canada during the scholarship award year
  5. Must submit a transcript from all colleges attended
  6. Scholarship must be used for academic purposes such as tuition, fees, room and board, and/or books

Electrical Generating Systems Association for freshmen and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be high school or G.E.D. graduates
  2. Must be full-time students at an accredited school
  3. Must have a 2.8 GPA
  4. Must show academic achievement, demonstrate admirable characteristics, and plan to seek employment in the On-Site Power Generation industry

ISA Educational Foundation for freshmen and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in an instrumentation, systems, or automation discipline at an educational institution in their country of residence
  2. Must have completed at least one academic semester or 12 semester hours or its equivalent
  3. Four year degree program applicants must be in their sophomore year or higher of their study or its equivalent at the time of application
  4. Must be full-time students in an educational institution and have at least an overall GPA of 2.5

Nebraska Rod and Custom for freshman and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled in fall semester in any of the Technical and Community Colleges in Nebraska in an automotive program of study
  2. Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average or a “C+) - high school or 1st year tech school
  3. Must demonstrate responsibility and willingness to work toward vocational achievement
  4. Must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours

Nebraska Rural Radio Foundation Scholarship

Qualifications:

  1. Applicants must be committed to the future of the industry of agriculture and rural communities in Nebraska
  2. Must presently be, or have been within the past six months, actively involved in farming and/or ranching
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen and resident of Nebraska for at least 10 years
  4. Must be between the ages of 25-55

Siouxland Unidad Latina Scholarship

Qualifications:

  1. To be eligible to apply must be of Latino/Hispanic heritage pursuing post-secondary education in the tri-state area and meet one of the following criteria:
    1. *graduating tri-state high school senior during the 2015-2016 academic year
    2. *currently enrolled college student, or
    3. *adult wishing to pursue a college education
  2. Additionally, awardees must attend the Scholarship Banquet on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 6:30 pm at Briar Cliff University Campus, Sioux City, IA

Udall Foundation Scholarship for freshmen and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment; or Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy; or Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy or Native health care
  2. The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning, and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics
