Additional Opportunities

Each of these scholarships requires a separate application form and deadlines may vary. Applications are located in the brochure kiosk outside the Financial Aid Office in the College Welcome Center unless otherwise noted. Scholarship listings are subject to change.

AK-SAR-BEN for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be able to demonstrate financial need by submitting a Federal Student Aid Report (SAR) along with the application form
  2. Must be accepted for admission or enrolled at an eligible community college
  3. Must be a United States citizen who is a resident of Nebraska or western Iowa
  4. Must enroll as a full-time student (at least 12 credit hours)
  5. Current high school students must attach a high school transcript

21st Century Librarian

Qualifications:

  1. Nebraska Library Commission awards scholarships to Nebraskans for coursework and degree programs in library studies. Scholarships are funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Nebraska Library Commission
  2. Scholarships may be used for tuition (for all coursework contributing toward a degree), course-required materials, and school-assessed fees at the following levels: Associate of Arts or Science Degree in Library and Information Services (LIS); Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree with a major in Library and Information Science or Library Media. In addition, scholarship recipients will be eligible to apply for stipends for such things as laptop/tablet computers, professional association dues, and regional or national conference attendance

Ambassador Scholarship for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be 18 years of age
  2. Must be currently enrolled at Northeast
  3. Must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA during each semester of enrollment
  4. Must have excellent verbal communication skills
  5. Must have a positive attitude toward Northeast Community College and the desire to help others
  6. Must be willing to serve as a student ambassador for at least one academic year
Applications can be obtained in the Admissions Office in the College Welcome Center.

 

American Chemical Society for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled in a chemical science program of study, which includes chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, and environmental science
  2. Must be African American, Hispanic, or Native American
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S
  4. Must be a full-time student at an accredited college, university, or community college
  5. Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  6. Must be able to demonstrate financial need according to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

AWS Foundation for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled in a welding related educational or training program
  2. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED

The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Be an incoming freshman
  2. Have graduated from a high school in Nebraska
  3. Be a resident of the state of Nebraska
  4. Be in need of financial assistance in order to attend school
  5. Have achieved at least a 2.5 GPA in high school
  6. Have applied for federal financial aid and have already received back the Student Aid Report that contains your Expected Family Contribution (EFC);
  7. Be attending or applying to a Nebraska state public school

  1. Must be in an agricultural program

Clark E. DeHaven for Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be planning a career in the food service industry and major in a food service related field of study
  2. Must be enrolled at an institution that is a member of the National Association of Colleges & University Food Services
  3. Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program full time, in good standing, and have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
  4. Must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen and must attend college in the U.S. or Canada during the scholarship award year
  5. Must submit a transcript from all colleges attended
  6. Scholarship must be used for academic purposes such as tuition, fees, room and board, and/or books

Electrical Generating Systems Association for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be high school or G.E.D. graduates
  2. Must be full-time students at an accredited school
  3. Must have a 2.8 GPA
  4. Must show academic achievement, demonstrate admirable characteristics, and plan to seek employment in the On-Site Power Generation industry

Faculty Student Excellence Scholarship for Sophomores

The Northeast Faculty Association sponsors two scholarships awarded based on scholastic excellence.
Qualifications:

  1. Must have completed thirty (30) credit hours at Northeast Community College by the end of the spring 2013 term and be enrolled full-time in a declared Northeast program of study
  2. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher (a progress report for the current semester will be required of finalists)
  3. Must be present at the April Student Achievement Awards program

Faith Regional Health Services – ADN for Second-Semester Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled at Northeast Community College
  2. Must have successfully completed one semester of the Northeast associate degree of nursing program and be committed to completing the program

ISA Educational Foundation for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program in an instrumentation, systems, or automation discipline at an educational institution in their country of residence
  2. Must have completed at least one academic semester or 12 semester hours or its equivalent
  3. Four year degree program applicants must be in their sophomore year or higher of their study or its equivalent at the time of application
  4. Must be full-time students in an educational institution and have at least an overall GPA of 2.5

McIntosh Minority/Davis Chambers Scholarship for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be an academically promising student that is active in school or community
  2. Must be enrolled full-time and plan to transfer to a 4-year public NE college or university
  3. Must be a graduate of a NE high school or have earned a G.E.D.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen and a NE resident
  5. Must submit the FAFSA and show financial need

New Beginnings/Norfolk Chamber of Commerce-Women’s Division for Freshmen and Sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a current student who has, or will be, finishing the first semester of college.
  2. Must be enrolled for a minimum of six credit hours per semester
  3. Must be a Northeast Nebraska resident
  4. Must be a female who can demonstrate a financial need
  5. Must include a copy of your transcript and one letter of reference from an instructor

Phi Theta Kappa/Tau Chi for sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must have completed thirty (30) credit hours at Northeast Community College by the end of the spring 2013 term
  2. Must have a 3.5 GPA or higher
  3. Must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours
  4. Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa/Tau Chi Chapter
  5. Must turn in essay with application

Student Nurses Association Spring Scholarship for sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a second year nursing student
  2. Must be involved in the student nurses association
  3. Must show financial need

 

Talbots for freshmen and sophomores

Qualifications:

  1. Be women currently residing in the United States or Canada
  2. Be women who earned a high school diploma or their G.E.D. on or before September 2003
  3. Be enrolled or planning to enroll in full- or part-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-, three- or four-year college or university in the United States or Canada
  4. Be attending the full 2013-14 academic year and receiving a degree no earlier than May 2014
  5. Have at least two semesters (24 credit hours or more) remaining to complete an undergraduate degree as of the beginning of the 2013 fall academic term.

Udall Foundation Scholarship

Qualifications:

  1. Must be students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to the environment; or Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy; or Native American and Alaska Native students who have demonstrated commitment to careers related to tribal public policy or Native health care.
  2. The Udall Foundation seeks future leaders across a wide spectrum of environmental fields, including policy, engineering, science, education, urban planning, and renewal, business, health, justice, and economics.
