Program Information
Nursing 2012-2013
Currently there is a critical shortage of nurses in our state and the nation, and the job opportunities are excellent. The nursing programs at Northeast Community College are designed to allow you maximum mobility for either the practical or associate degree nursing education.
You'll learn the art and science of nursing through a combination of theory and clinical courses specific to each level of nursing. Clinical coursework is completed in local hospitals, long-term care facilities and community based settings. State-of-the-art simulations create learning experiences that supplement actual clinical time. Innovative, experienced nursing faculty are there to coach you every step of the way.
All students accepted into the program who successfully complete the first two semesters receive a diploma in practical nursing and may opt to take the NCLEX-PN exam for licensure. Based on grade point average, a student may be eligible to complete the last two semesters of the program to receive an associate degree in nursing and take the NCLEX-RN exam. The nursing program may be completed in one, two or multiple years, based on admission criteria. Part-time and full-time options are available. The program plan of study can be customized to meet the individual student’s needs. Enrollment in this program is limited and based on the date of completed requirements for acceptance into this program.
Northeast also offers a program designed for current Licensed Practical Nurses who wish to return to college after a period of years to become registered nurses. After successful completion of the program, you will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam. See our catalog for more information.
The nursing program is approved by the Nebraska State Board of Nursing and accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006, 1-800-669-1656. Many health care providers require a criminal background check prior to employment. Students will be required to submit to a criminal background check prior to acceptance into the program.
