Program Information
Utility Line 2011-2012
We offer one of only three two-year utility line degree programs in the United States. We are nationally recognized for our comprehensive utility line and job training safety program. Successful completion of the program prepares you for highly-marketable careers installing, replacing, and repairing electrical power poles, lines, and equipment.
As a utility line student, you will learn the basics of electricity and electrical equipment. Our experienced faculty will teach you to install, operate and maintain electrical utility lines. You'll not only study the topics of wiring, pole climbing, metering, and line construction, but you'll actually perform these skills as you learn. Instruction includes practical application of mathematics, sciences, circuit diagrams, and blueprints together with pole-line construction.
Classes are held Monday through Thursday, allowing for a three-day weekend. Enrollment in this program is limited and based on the date of acceptance. If you have a criminal record, you may not be eligible for employment in some settings.
See utility line admissions requirements. Before admission to the program, you must attain the following minimum entrance scores: COMPASS: Math Pre-Algebra Test 30, Reading 60, Writing 34; ASSET: Math Numerical Skills Test 37, Reading 35, Writing 38; ACT: Math 16, Reading 14, English 14.
