Information Technology - Computer Programming 2011-2012

Northeast is one of a few schools in Nebraska that teaches iSeries and RPG programming, which are skills sought by employers. Learn traditional business programming, which is where many of the new job openings will be. A new addition to our degree is a Web Programming course that ties together the Visual Basic, Java, and database courses into a web environment.

Enroll in this program and you'll apply your skills on the college IBM iSeries and IBM microcomputers as well as personal computers. The program stresses hands-on experience with the latest information technology equipment so student accessibility to the college’s computer facilities is a first priority at Northeast. We also have an active student organization, called the Computer Information Processing Club (CIPC). Our club works on many special projects during the year. This is a great way to get to know other students while getting hands on experience.

Job outlook for programmers is great. Upon graduation students are ready for entry-level programming jobs. Most programming work in a business environment is writing programs that businesses need to operate such as accounting, payroll, inventory, purchasing, and customer information systems. Programmers may use a visual language like Visual Basic or a more traditional language like RPG.
