LPN-Cs and RNs will safely provide competent nursing care related to IV therapy. Objectives: Identify the regulations, policies and procedures governing involvement with intravenous therapy (IV) for the LPN-C. Discuss infection control principles and safety measures related to intravenous infusion therapy to promote optimal patient outcomes Review fluid and electrolyte balance related to intravenous infusion therapy. Determine special needs of older adults receiving IV therapy. Outline the responsibilities of the LPN-C related to IV fluid administration in the provision of safe and competent nursing care. Examine the responsibilities of the LPN-C related to IV medication administration in the provision of safe and competent nursing care. Review appropriate documentation and safety related to IV therapy.
