EMT Part I

This course is dedicated to the study and application of the knowledge and skills necessary for an individual to become an Emergency Medical Technician and provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized service. The course will include the first half of the applications/skills needed to apply for licensure as an EMT in the State of Nebraska. After successful completion of this course and EMTL-1845 the student will be eligible to apply to test for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) cognitive examination. Once the student has passed both the cognitive and practical skills examinations of the NREMT he/she can apply to obtain an EMT license in the State of Nebraska. This class contains the current information found in the National EMS Education Standards as outlined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Student must have current CPR certification, American Heart Association-Healthcare Provider Level or equivalent.

The Heartsaver CPR course is a modular CPR course that teaches how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies including cardiac arrest and choking for responsive and non-responsive adults. The general public is the target audience for this course. the application and use of the automated, electronic defibrillator (AED) is also included. Book will be provided at the time of class.
