Art of Photography

Here's the opportunity to enjoy the art of photography. Learn how to use your camera to produce a work of art using some of the artistic principles used by the old masters. Move beyond snapshots and become a serious photographer with Instructor Tom Prouty. Bring your camera, know all its features and use your camera like an artist uses his paintbrush.

Basic Nurse Aide

This course is designed to meet the Nebraska Health & Human Services System training requirements for nurse aide certification and employment in long-term care facilities. This course combines classroom lecture and laboratory application for the development of basic skills needed to provide safe, effective, and caring services to the elderly or chronically ill patient of any age, in a long-term care facility. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state written and practical skills exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the students name will be placed on the basic nurse aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division. The book is located in the campus bookstore, 402-844-7140. CLASS CANNOT BE REGISTERED ONLINE. An additional $30 fee will be required if student choose to register to take the Certified Nursing Assistant exam at the end of the course. This $30 fee will be required at the time of the non-credit exam registration.

Digital Darkroom (Photo Editing)

Discover techniques to improve photos taken with a digital camera or photos scanned into a computer. Understand how to use various photography editing programs to enhance your digital masterpieces. Topics to be covered include removing red eye, cropping, creating collages, changing color pictures to black and white, coloring isolated areas, tinting pictures, and adding text. Join Brandie Carlson and learn about the FREE and not so free photo editing software programs and websites available. Bring your photos with you for hands-on learning.

Staying active can mean the difference between living a healthy, happy life, and developing chronic health conditions. Learn ways to enjoy regular physical activity. Topics include current trends in wellness, fitness, and nutrition. The course will also have an activity component with demonstration on how to set up and complete an exercise program tailored to you. Begin your journey and learn how you can take the first steps towards a healthier lifestyle.

Introduction to Digital Photography

Do you have a digital camera and you don't know how to operate it? Are you ready to enter the world of digital photography? Instructor Tom Prouty will take you through the basics of digital photography and teach you some camera fundamentals. Whether you are a first time digital camera owner or if you are looking for tips on digital photography skills and transferring photos to your computer. This is the class for you! Helpful tips on sports action photography will also be included. Bring your camera and your camera manual to the class.

Medication Aide

This course is designed to prepare the student to meet the requirements of the Medication Aide Act and the responsibilities of the medication aide in an assisted living facility and/or nursing facility. This course includes information regarding medication administration, pharmacology, rules and regulations, classification of drugs, orders, storage, abbreviations and an overview of commonly used drugs and documentation. Upon completion of this course, the student is eligible to take the state administered written exam. After successfully passing this examination and completing the application procedure, the student\'s name will be placed on the medication aide registry at the Nebraska Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure, Credentialing Division. Quickbooks for Agriculture

This course is an introduction to Quickbooks. Its main objectives are to introduce you to the basic features in Quickbooks and to give you an opportunity for hands on practice. You will learn about the types of information you need to track in your farm and ranch business, how to modify reports to fit your operation, build a cash flow and you will see how to enter that information and track it in Quickbooks. By the time you complete this course, you will be familiar with the most common tasks, and you will know where to find information about more advanced features.

Wildlife Photography Made Simple

Have you ever wished that you could take a photograph of that friendly little squirrel in your yard, or that beautiful bird that flies by the windows of your house? Has your dream been to photograph a deer up close? This class will give you tips on how to capture God's wonderful creation in a photograph. Instructor Tom Prouty will give you tips on how to get close to your subject and photograph wildlife in its natural environment.

Windows 8

What are the benefits of Windows 8? Should you upgrade or not? Do you need a ""touch screen"" to run the operating system? Come see the newest Windows operating system demystified and learn how to get the most from it. Hit the ground running when you or your company upgrade. Participants who own Windows 8 laptops are encouraged to bring them. This will be a lecture based class. "
