Access Database Applications

A hands-on introduction to microcomputer database applications. Topics include: database creation, maintenance, data rearrangement, search techniques, indexing, variables, arithmetic, data fields, reports, control breaks, labels, and multiple files. Basic keyboarding skills are essential. (3 credit class)

Accounting With Quickbooks

Comprehensive course in computerized accounting using QuickBooks Pro software. Topics will cover service and merchandising businesses. Students will create a company, manage customers and vendors, record receivables and payables, sales and sales tax, purchases and inventory, reconcile bank and credit card accounts, process payroll, maintain asset, liability and equity accounts, close books and perform routine company maintenance. Must have a working knowledge of MS Office. (3 credit class) Prerequisite: ACCT 1060 or ACCT 1100 or ACCT 1200

Basic Auto Body Theory I & Lab

This course has been redesigned and updated to provide an opportunity for students to learn and adopt methods to restore vehicles. Topics include panel adjustment, rust repair, dent repair, sheet metal replacement, priming, sanding, painting, and buffing. Must register for theory and lab class.

Basic Computers I

This class is for the person who has very limited computer knowledge or none at all. The student will be taught beginning computer skills including powering the computer on and off, using a mouse and keyboard, utilizing the desktop, and launching programs. This class will be taught at a very relaxed pace for those apprehensive about operating a computer. There will be significant hands-on practice of each concept.

Basic Computers II

This class is for the person who has very limited computer knowledge. The student will be taught beginning level computer skills. This class will review and build upon skills learned in Basic Computers I. Concepts including using a word processor and working with tool bars and the task bar. This class is taught at a very relaxed pace for those persons apprehensive about operating a computer. There will be significant hands-on practice of each concept.

Basic Computers III

This class is for the person who has very limited computer knowledge. The student will be taught beginning level computer skills. This class will review and build upon skills learned in Basic Computers I and II. Concepts including using the copy, cut and paste options in the Microsoft Office operating system, and browsing the internet using Internet Explorer. This class is taught at a very relaxed pace for those persons apprehensive about operating a computer. There will be significant hands-on practice of each concept.

Beginning Keyboarding

Designed for beginners and those desiring a review of keyboarding techniques. Emphasizes the mechanics necessary to gain keyboarding skills; the development of speed and accuracy; and basic formatting of memos, letters, tables and reports using a computer word processing program. (3 credit class)

Digital Camera II

This class is intended for owners of digital point-and-shoot cameras who have developed basic skills and are looking to use their camera more effectively. Students will learn how to archive photos, including burning them to a disk and renaming the photo files. Students will learn how to use the self-timer and movie modes. Various skills for taking good photos will be covered, such as white balance, common mistakes, basic photo composition, and tips for taking various types of photos. Discussions will include camera accessories, basic photo editing, and posting photos on internet sites. Please bring your camera with you to class.

Digital Photography I: Get Off Auto

Are you overwhelmed by the complicated buttons, menus, and settings on your DSLR camera? Have not fear, the time to explore your camera is here. This class is great for hobbyist who are looking to brush up on their skills, as well as first-time DSLR camera owners who are trying to get more out of their camera.

Digital Photography II: Get onto Manual

So you think you know how to use your DSLR camera? In this class apply your knowledge of shutter speed and aperture to take your photography to the next level. Explore your creativity and learn from a professional portrait photographer. Learn how to take better images of your children, or your next vacation. It is recommended participants take Digital Photography I prior to enrolling in this course.

Driver's Education

This class is for Nebraska residents, 14-17 years of age, and will teach the basic skills of how to operate a vehicle. The class consists of both classroom lecture and lab (driving times to be assigned at first class.) Participants must provide copy of Learner's Permit at time of registration. Twenty hours of classroom and at least six (6) hours of driving are required.

E-mail I

This is a brief introduction to skills needed to use e-mail. The student will learn the types of e-mail accounts available, creating a contact list, new e-mail, forwarding, replying, and printing as well as using the cc and bcc functions to properly forward e-mails without compromising a friend's security and reducing the chance of spamming. Students must have a good working knowledge of a computer and be able to use a keyboard and mouse. This class is taught in a very relaxed pace for those persons apprehensive about operating a computer. There will be significant hands on practice for each concept.

Excel Spreadsheet Applications

This course begins with entry-level techniques and quickly progresses into more advanced functions. Advanced topics of integrating database files into spreadsheets, how to write macros, Visual Basic code and graphic fundamentals will be presented. Basic keyboarding skills are essential. (3 credit class)

Heartsaver First Aid

The Heartsaver First Aid course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Course content includes: general principles, medical emergencies, and injury emergencies. First Aid course topics may include: rescuer duties, victim and rescuer safety, phoning for help, finding the problem, after the emergency, breathing problems, choking, bad allergic reactions, heart attack, fainting, diabetes and low blood sugar, stroke, seizures, shock, wounds, head, neck, and spine injury, broken bones and sprains, burns and electrocution, bites and stings, temperature-related emergencies, and poison emergencies. This course is designed for any person who wants to learn these important life saving skills, and for those who have a duty to respond to a first aid or cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. Heartsaver Infant and Child CPR/First Aid

The Heartsaver CPR and First Aid course combines CPR - teaching rescuers to recognize and treat cardiac arrest and choking for adults, children and infant victims and First Aid - teaching management of certain environmental reactions; allergic reactions, cuts, wounds, bites, and various situations requiring treatments. iPad - Applications

The Apple iPad has many applications (Apps) for free. Learn about some of the most popular apps and how to use them. Participants will need to bring their own iPad fully charged, and know their Apple ID and password to allow for the downloading of free apps in class.

iPad - Beyond the Basics

This course is designed for iPad owners who want to learn how to use the Apple iPad more efficiently. This course explains how to download and manage apps, configure email accounts, create presentations, utilize iCloud and iTunes. You will also discover how to use video conferencing with your iPad. Participants need to bring their own iPad and know their Apple ID and password.

Learn how to use an iPad for emailing, browsing the web, managing time, getting directions, taking notes, taking photos, and listening to music. Also learn about free applications that can be downloaded to your device. Participants need to bring their own iPad and know their Apple ID and password.

Lpn-c Update

LPN-Cs and RNs will safely provide competent nursing care related to IV therapy. Objectives: Identify the regulations, policies and procedures governing involvement with intravenous therapy (IV) for the LPN-C. Discuss infection control principles and safety measures related to intravenous infusion therapy to promote optimal patient outcomes Review fluid and electrolyte balance related to intravenous infusion therapy. Determine special needs of older adults receiving IV therapy. Outline the responsibilities of the LPN-C related to IV fluid administration in the provision of safe and competent nursing care. Examine the responsibilities of the LPN-C related to IV medication administration in the provision of safe and competent nursing care. Review appropriate documentation and safety related to IV therapy. This activity has been submitted to the Washington State Nurses Association Continuing Education Approval & Recognition Program (CEARP) for approval to award contact hours (6.25). Motorcycle Rider Course

The Motorcycle Rider Course includes five(5) hours of classroom instruction and ten (10) hours of riding instruction. It begins with the basics, such as turning, shifting, and braking. Then it moves on to more advanced street riding strategies. We provide the motorcycles. Professionally trained instructors teach in the classroom and then coach riders in a controlled riding area. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign the required waiver form. In order to pass, you must attend all classroom and riding sessions and pass the knowledge and skills test. Nebraska Charities Conference

This conference is hosted by the Nebraska Attorney General's Office and is intended to provide Nebraska charities an overview of applicable state and federal statutes. Instructed by the regulators themselves, the goal is to help charitable entities operate in an effective and law-abiding manner. The conference is intended for boards of directors of Nebraska nonprofit corporations, as well as attorneys and accountants. Presenters will include representatives from the IRS, Nebraska Department of Revenue, Nebraska Department of Revenue Charitable Gaming Division, Nebraska Secretary of State's Office, Nebraska Department of Labor and the Nebraska Attorney General's Office.

P.O.P. Driver Training

This is a Provisional Operators Permit Driver Training course. Individuals need to be 14-17 years old. Students will acquire the basic skills to operate a vehicle. At least one parent/guardian must be present for the first part of the first class. Bring Learner's or School permit first day of class. The classroom portion will meet June 2- June 8, 2013, Sunday-Friday 4-7:00 pm. and Saturday 9-12:00 pm. The driving experience will be arranged with the student between June 8-July 6, 2013. 20 hours of classroom and at least 6 hours of driving are required. Real Estate Principles and Practices (#0040)

Required course that must be successfully completed before taking the licensing exam in that state of Nebraska and/or Iowa. Introduction to real estate with reference to estates in land, acquisition of title, legal instruments used in real estate transactions, real estate markets, ownership, interests, contracts, closing transfers, financing brokerage, management, appraising, developing, and government influences in real estate. Web Page Development

The Web Page Development course is intended to show students what the basic HTML code is behind a web page and how to use HTML to construct a site. Topics covered include finding and using images, linking pages, making tables, frames, java script, navigation, backgrounds, and design elements of a website. (1 credit class)
