This course combines classroom lecture and laboratory application for the development of basic skills needed to provide safe, effective, and caring services to the elderly or chronically ill patient of any age, in a long-term care facility. This American Heart Association course is a recertification for current CPR Instructors. Any new materials and new procedures will be included in this 4-hour class. Students must bring their current instructor card.

Designed to instruct a student to the level of Emergency Medical Technician. This includes all skills necessary for the individual to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized service. After becoming Nationally Registered and have your Nebraska Licence for EMT-B, you are eligible to become a Paramedic who primarily provide pre-hospital advanced medical and trauma care. They provide emergency on-scene treatment, crisis intervention, life-saving stabilization and transportation of ill or injured patients to definitive emergency facilities. The Heartsaver CPR and First Aid course combines CPR - teaching rescuers to recognize and treat cardiac arrest and choking for adults, children and infant victims and First Aid - teaching management of certain environmental reactions; allergic reactions, cuts, wounds, bites and various situations requiring treatments.

This course is designed to prepare the student to meet the requirements of the Medication Aide Act and the responsibilities of the medication aide in an assisted living facility and/or nursing facility. This course includes information regarding medication administration, pharmacology, rules and regulations, classification of drugs, orders, storage, abbreviations and an overview of commonly used drugs and documentation.
