2014 Player Profiles

Meagan Backer
Wayne, Nebraska
Wayne High School

This past season as a senior at Wayne High School, Backer recorded 637 digs, averaging 7.2 digs per game, 19 ace serves and 5.6 receptions per game. In her career, the two-year libero starter registered 1,401 digs and 79 ace serves. Backer helped her team earn a trip to the Nebraska State Volleyball Championships this past season. She was named to the Norfolk Daily News second team, and earned all-state honorable mention honors by the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal-Star.

Maggie Earney
Whitney, Nebraska
Chadron High School

A three-year letter winner in volleyball, Maggie was named to the Western Conference Volleyball Honorable Mention Team and All-State Volleyball Honorable Mention Team. She helped her team qualify for the State Volleyball Tournament her senior year. She holds the school record for set assists in a season with 801 assists in 2012. She is a two-year basketball letter winner and her basketball team finished fourth in 2012 and 2013 at the State Basketball Tournament. She was named to the school Honor Roll all four years in high school, was a member of the National Honor Society for two years and Student Council for three years. Maggie was named Western Conference Scholar Athlete in the 2012-13 academic year. She also received the Kiwanis Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award in 2010-2013.

Grace Ecklund
Overton, Nebraska
Overton High School

A four-year letter winner/starter in volleyball, two-year letter winner/starter in basketball, and one-year letter winner in track, Grace also participated in a swim league for 12 years. In her volleyball career, she recorded and holds career records with 971 kills, 218 blocks and 169 ace serves and season records with 360 kills and 63 ace serves. Grace was a Kearney Hub stat leader in kill efficiency, ace serves and blocks. During her senior season, she served as team captain, earned All-Conference 1st Team, All-Conference Tournament Team, Beacon Observer FKC All-Tournament Team, and Kearney Hub 1st Team All-Region Volleyball Team honors. She also earned Academic All-Conference and Academic All-State honors all four years in volleyball and two years in basketball. Grace participated in two All-Star Games in the summer of 2013.

Kenna Fiedler
Bloomfield, Nebraska
Bloomfield High School

During her senior year, Kenna recorded 136 kills, 62 blocks, 46 ace serves and 384 digs. As the team’s leader, Fiedler also received All-Conference recognition her senior year.

Kiara Lopez
Schuyler, Nebraska
Schuyler High School

Kiara had 40 kills, 552 assists, 29 ace serves, 95 digs and 28 blocks for Schuyler Central High School this past season. During her career, she recorded 88 kills, 1,197 assists, 226 digs and 52 aces.

Taryn Luedtke
Creston, Nebraska
Lakeview High School

During this past year for the Vikings, Luedtke led the team with 50 aces. She was second in kills and attack efficiency and third in digs and serve/receive. For her career at Lakeview, Luedtke is among the Top 20 in school history in all-time digs; Top 10 in points scored, matches played, games played, kills, attack efficiency, serve percentage, and serve attempts. She was also in the Top 5 all-time for attack attempts and attack percentage. During her senior season, Luedtke was named to the Central Conference First-Team, All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention by the Omaha World-Herald, Lincoln Journal-Star and Nebraska Prep Volleyball. She was also a member of the All-State Academic Team. She is the sister of Sydney Luedtke, who played for Northeast this past season.

Sarah Maxson
Wayne, Nebraska
Wayne High School

Sarah was a two-year letter winner/starter in volleyball at Wayne High. As a senior, she earned All-Conference Honorable Mention and the Marines Distinguished Athlete Award in recognition of her courage, poise, self-confidence, and leadership as a high school athlete. Sarah was selected to the Mid-State All-Conference Honorable Mention Basketball Team as a senior, her team’s Most Valuable Player, an Omaha World-Herald All-State Honorable Mention, and Lincoln Journal-Star All-State Honorable Mention. She also received the Terry Johnson Freshman Basketball Award for hard work and talent. She qualified for the State Track and Field Meet as a junior.

Kelsie Myers
Broken Bow, Nebraska
Broken Bow High School

Kelsie is a transfer from Wayne State College. She is a graduate of Broken Bow High School.

Haley Roelle
Creston, Nebraska
Humphrey High School

Haley helped Humphrey High School to a State Championship in both her junior and senior year. An All-State Honorable Mention and All-Conference Honorable Mention her junior year, she was 2nd Team All-Conference and 3rd Team All-State her senior year. She was also a 2nd Team selection to the 2013 Nebraska State Volleyball Team her senior year. She was also a four-year basketball player and participated in track two years. She was named 3rd Team All-Conference in basketball her senior year, as well as Academic All-State Winter Activities her sophomore, junior and senior years. She also participated in the Northeast Nebraska All-Star Game held at Northeast Community College.

Brittany Sullivan
Allen, Nebraska
Allen Consolidated Schools

Brittany is a four-year letter winner in volleyball, basketball and track. She had 615 kills, 752 digs, 28 blocks and 142 service aces in volleyball. As a three-year volleyball starter, Brittany earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors her sophomore year and made All-Conference 1st Team as a junior and senior. She was named to the Nebraska Associated Press All-State Volleyball 2nd Team, Norfolk Daily News All-State 3rd Team and Omaha World-Herald All-State 2nd Team her senior year. She was also a basketball and track stand-out and earned many honors. A three-year member of the National Honor Society, she was a four-year Lewis & Clark Honor Band participant. She earned the Louis Armstrong Award her junior and senior year. She participated in the Northeast Nebraska All-Star Game at Northeast Community College.

Morgan Uhlir
Norfolk, Nebraska
Lutheran High Northeast

In 2013, Uhlir had 258 kills, had a .281 hitting percentage, and recorded 35 aces, 149 digs and 22 blocks for the Eagles. In the previous year, she recorded 211 kills, had a .256 hitting percentage, and had 35 aces, 149 digs and 22 blocks. She also helped lead her team to the Nebraska Class C2 State Volleyball Tournament the past two years.

Whitney Valasek
Palmer, Nebraska
Palmer High School

During her senior year at Palmer High School, Valasek recorded 117 kills with a .286 kill percentage; a .115 hitting percentage, and 32 ace blocks. She played 63 sets for the Tigers last season and registered 24 ace serves and 85 points served. Valasek was named to the Goldenrod Conference 3rd Team - 2013; Prep-Volleyball Honorable Mention – 2013; All Heartland Honorable Mention – 2013; All State Academic Team – 2013; and Goldenrod Conference 2nd Team – 2012.

Sydney previously played at Southwestern Community College in Iowa. During her freshman year she recorded 13 kills, 6 blocks and 10 digs.
