Head Coach Dan Anderson

Head Coach Dan AndersonDan Anderson is beginning his 17th season as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Northeast Community College, with over 38 years of total coaching experience after this season. The Canton, South Dakota, native has compiled a 259-234 career record. During his tenure with the Hawks, he has been named the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year four times. In 2000-2001, Anderson was named the Region IX Coach of the Year. Over his tenure, Anderson has been involved with recruiting, financial aid, advising, basketball operations, player development, and camps.

After graduating high school from Rock Valley Public Schools, Anderson went on to receive his Associative Arts Degree at Iowa Lakes Community College. He proceeded to obtain his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Education from Augustana College.

Anderson began his coaching career in 1976 at Canton High School in Canton, South Dakota. He served as the Varsity Assistant Coach for 11 years. After Canton High School, Anderson became the Graduate Assistant at Augustana College for the 1986-87 season. Augustana compiled a 19-9 record that year. Anderson received his Masters in Exercise Science through the University of South Dakota while being the Graduate Assistant.

One year after taking the Graduate Assistant job at Augustana College, Anderson was named the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Iowa Western Community College. He spent eight seasons as the Head Coach and compiled 112-137 record. After his stint at Iowa Western Community College, Anderson returned to his Alma Matter, Augustana College, as Assistant Coach. During the four seasons as Assistant, he helped Augustana College to a 37-44 record.

Coach Anderson has tallied over 38 years of coaching experience. He has been associated with 413 career wins. Over his tenure, Anderson has been involved with recruiting, financial aid, advising, basketball operations, player development, and camps.

Dan and his wife, Kris, are the parents to three children: Meagan (Caleb), Molly (Efrain), and Mickey. They are also the grandparents of four: Aiden, Elyn, Aftyn, and Ezra.

Assistant Coach Adam Blaylock

Coach Blaylock

Adam Blaylock, a 2005 graduate of Norfolk High School where he was a three-year, three sport athlete, begins his fourth full season as Assistant Coach after joining the staff in January 2011. A Norfolk Daily News High School Athlete of the Year, Blaylock played for Northeast Community College for two years where he was a two-time Academic All-Conference athlete. He earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Northeast in 2007. He then lettered in indoor and outdoor track and field at Wayne State College where he was named a two-time Academic All-Conference performer by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Blaylock joined the Peru State College basketball program during his junior year and earned two letters. He had 17 double digit scoring games while playing basketball for Peru. Following the 2009-2010 academic year, he was named a Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Blaylock obtained his Master’s Degree in organizational management with a sports emphasis in December 2013. Blaylock assists Coach Anderson with recruiting, player development, strength and conditioning, and overall basketball operations. He is active in helping direct Northeast’s summer basketball camps. Blaylock has worked with Midwest Elite Basketball and was a coach for Jerry Mullins’ Elite 100 Camps for the past three summers. Recently, he has trained players from the elementary level to professional basketball players. Blaylock is the son of John and Diana Blaylock.

Assistant Coach Zach Towie

Zach Towle was a 2009 graduate of Concordia Academy in Roseville, Minnesota. The Maplewood, Minnesota, native was a four-year starter at Concordia University where he scored over 2,500 career points. He holds a state record of 373 three-pointers made during a career. The three-point specialist is on the high school national scoring list for three-point attempts in a career. After graduation he attended Northeast Community College where he played for Head Coach Dan Anderson. While at Northeast he knocked down 139 three-pointers and was a two-time All Nebraska Conference Honoree. After graduation, Towle attended Concordia St. Paul, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He appeared in 39 games over his two years at the NSIC Division 2 school. He knocked down 29 threes during his tenure.

Towle begins his second year as Assistant Coach. He coached the 16 and Under Minnesota Magic squad that competed on a national level. He will assist the basketball program with recruiting, player development, and overall basketball operations. Zach is the son of John and Lynn Towle.

Assistant Coach Junior Denis

Coach Blaylock

The Nassau, Bahamas, native begins his second season as Student Assistant for Coach Anderson. Denis played for the Hawks during the 2011-12 season. He has worked high school camps in the Bahamas, as well as the Kevin Johnson skills camps this past summer. While in high school, “Frog”, competed for the New Providence Storm during the AAU circuit.
