President's Welcome from Northeast Community College
With a great sense of pride, I welcome all our visitors to the campus of Northeast Community College and Norfolk. We are delighted to host this Region IX men’s tournament for only the second time and we want all athletes, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators to enjoy your visit as much as we will enjoy hosting you. You will find thousands of friendly individuals who are glad you are here and want to make your stay with us one that will be remembered long after the tournament is over. If there is anything we can do to make your visit with us more enjoyable, please let any staff or faculty member know.
Stroll around our campus and our community. As you stroll around the campus of Northeast Community College, pop into our classrooms or labs for a quick visit. We are proud of our more than 82 vocational, technical, liberal arts, and business concentrations of study that can lead to immediate employment or transfer to a four-year college.
Notice, too, the new construction/building renovations on campus since we last hosted the men’s Region IX tournament in 2003. We are very proud of that progress as it indicates our commitment to an even greater future of even greater educations for our students. We proudly serve the residents in 20 counties in northeast Nebraska and far beyond.
The 16 teams representing the Region IX will thrill our audiences with some of the best basketball ever played in the history of Northeast athletics. These student-athletes who balance academics and athletic competition represent the best from every community and junior college in the Region IX. Good luck to all and, win or lose, know that we are all proud of you for your discipline, character, and sportsmanship.
Again, we welcome you to your home away from home this weekend and always the home of the Hawks, Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Dr. Bill R. Path, President
